On May 27th-28th, 2023, H.E. Ambassador Tanee Sangrat and Mrs.Natnapang Damrongsoontornchai, Deputy Consul-General, Chicago along with staff members of the Embassy and the Consulate, attended Minnesota Songkran Festival 2023 at the Minnesota State Capitol.

“Minnesota Songkran Festival 2023” was co-organized by the Thai Cultural Council of MN, Wat Promwachirayan, Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans, Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C., Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago, and Tourism Authority of Thailand, New York, including the collaborations from various private sectors. This free event, aimed to celebrate the Thai New Year while strengthening ties between the Thai and international communities under the theme “Songkran For All,” which extended opportunities for everyone to join this festive occasion together. In addition, this year event is a part of celebration to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Thailand-US diplomatic relations.

The two-day event offered a variety of Thai food, Thai products and presented diverse cultural activities, such as music and dance performances including related contests and fun games. There were special guests from Thailand namely, Anna Sueangam-iam, Miss Universe Thailand 2022, Chonnikarn Supittayaporn, Miss Thailand 2023 and Buakaw Banchamek, the very well-known Thai boxer also demonstrated the art of Thai boxing at the State Capitol. These great fun and many colorful activities received significantly attention from all participants and communities in the US and Thailand as well.
