On April 3, 2026, Consul-General Bacharee Puengpak, on behalf of the Royal Thai Consulate-General, awarded the sponsorship money to project finalists under the “Enhancing Thai Student Activities in the Midwest 2026” program.

The two projects that were selected are: (1) Mr. Jomphon Vongasvathepchai, President of the Thai Student Association (ThaiSA) at the University of Illinois Chicago, for the project titled “Songkran Festival at the University of Illinois Chicago,” and (2) Ms. Wiramon Sangsuwan, representative of Thai students from Northern Illinois University, for the project titled “NIU Thai Night: Songkran Celebration.”

The Royal Thai Consulate-General would like to express its appreciation to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Chicago Office, for providing decorative items and promotional materials on Thai tourism to support the students’ activities.
