Consul-General of Thailand in Chicago Strengthens Ties with Oklahoma, Exploring Strategic Partnerships in Economy, Agriculture, and Technology

On 27 April 2026, Ms. Bacharee Puengpak, Consul-General of Thailand in Chicago, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Matt Pinnell, Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma, at the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The meeting aimed to strengthen relations and enhance mutual understanding, as well as to exchange views on opportunities to expand cooperation in the areas of economy, academia, and tourism.
On the same occasion, the Consul-General met with Ms. Blayne Arthur, Secretary of Agriculture, to receive information on Oklahoma’s agricultural potential and to discuss ways to promote cooperation in agriculture and academic fields. Afterward, the Consul-General met with Mr. John Budd, Chief Executive Officer of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and his delegation to learn about the state’s industrial strengths in various sectors, including aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and energy. The discussion also covered opportunities to expand investment and cooperation with Thailand.
In addition, the Consul-General met with Ms. Valorie Fillipo, Chair of the Asian Chamber of Greater Oklahoma City, and the members of Chamber to learn about the business activities of Asian entrepreneurs in the state and related initiatives that could enhance future engagement of the Thai community. Later, the Consul-General met with Mr. Mike Knopp, Founder of Riversport OKC, to receive information about the facility, which serves as a venue for a wide range of water sports. The site will also serve as the canoe slalom venue for the LA28 Olympic Games in 2028.
