On March 7, 2025, Consul-General Katanawadee Kalayanamit, along with officers from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chicago, presented a check to Prof. Chamni Sripraram, the director of the Thai Music Ensemble at the School of Music, Northern Illinois University (NIU), to support the university's Thai music education initiatives.
On this occasion, Prof. Sripraram, along with his NIU students from the "Music of Thailand" course, presented a variety of performances, including a Two-Ranad Ek solo and a Ponglang ensemble. Additionally, Consulate-General officials engaged in discussions with Prof. Sripraram to explore opportunities to promote Thailand's soft power and foster collaboration between the NIU Thai Music Ensemble and the Thai communities in the Midwest.
