On May 23, 2024, Consul-General Katanawadee Kalayanamit and Deputy Consul-General Natnapang Damrongsoontornchai welcomed Mr. Kowit Phakamart, Director General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, and his delegation to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chicago.

 

On the same occasion, the Consulate-General invited Mrs. Archawee Dhamavasi, President of the Academy of Thai Classical Music at Wat Dhammaram; Mr. Nitirut Chumsangsri, President of the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute (TCFAI); and Mr. Dee Noree, President of Wat Phromvajirayan in Minnesota, to join the meeting. They discussed the establishment of the Thai Cultural Council of Illinois and ways to strengthen the Thai community and promote Thailand's soft power in the Midwest region of the United States.

 

Following the session, the Consulate-General and the Department of Cultural Promotion delegation visited Wat Buddha-Dhamma, where TCFAI is located, to receive a briefing on Wat Buddha-Dhamma and TCFAI's activities.
